The process of data entry is critical to the effectiveness and reliability of a database. Controls make data entry easier to do, and easier to do accurately. You can set control properties to suggest or limit data values. Or you can have a control determine the form in which users enter particular data. You can even use controls to check that new data follows rules you make to ensure that it's valid.
