Linking rows to shapes that already contain data from a previous version of Visio.
In a previous version of Visio, did you enter data into the Custom Properties window? You don't have to do that anymore. You can link your diagram to a data source so that Visio can enter the data for you. To do that, you do something different in the Automatic Link wizard. On the left, choose a data column from your data source. On the right, for Shape Field, select a field into which you entered data earlier. This allows you to match a column in your data source with the equivalent shape field. Now Visio will know which row to link to which shape.
