Question I don't really understand the word "Font" or what it is used for.
Answer

Problem solved "Font" means the shape and style of the text that is displayed on the screen and used when printing. Various information in addition to the shape of the text, such as the space between the characters and standard spaces between lines are all included in font.

To use print typography as an example, it means the information about the print type set and how the type should be arranged.

In products like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, you can represent various typefaces by specifying a font and font size (size of character) when creating a document.

Question What types of fonts are there?
Answer

Problem solved There are two types of Latin font. They are called "serif" and "sans serif". A serif font is a font that has vertical and horizontal lines that are designed to resemble brush strokes. The serif is the finishing stroke on the character. A sans serif font does not have "serifs" and the lines are the same width.

Question What is the difference between a monospaced and proportional font?
Answer

A monospaced font is a font where all the characters have the same width. A proportional font is a font where the width varies for each character.

For example, "i" and "m" require different widths as characters. If "i" and "m" were set to the same width, the visual balance is unattractive. Proportional fonts were created taking into consideration how the shape of the characters affects the visual balance when characters are combined.

We'll explain using a specific word. Type in "Microsoft". Use two of the fonts above in the following order: Courier New and Times New Roman. Latin text is monospaced in Courier New so "M" and "i" are represented using the same width. In Times New Roman, Latin text is proportional so the width of appears balanced even when "M" and "i" are next to each other.

Available font list In general, when creating material in Microsoft Office products, using a proportional font lets you create a document that is easily read. However, if only about a line of characters is specified, using a monospaced font is appropriate. You can select the font that you use to suit your purpose.
