Create DNS records for Office 365 when you manage your DNS records

For detailed instructions about how to create DNS records for Office 365, including the MX record required for mail routing, click the link for your DNS hosting provider.

Caution    Some DNS hosting providers don’t let you create all the required record types, which causes service limitations. If your provider doesn’t support SRV, TXT, or CNAME records, we recommend that you transfer your domain to a provider that supports all required record types.

To see which DNS records are required and find the values to use for each record, see Gather the information you need to create Office 365 DNS records.

Note    If you are using a hybrid configuration with an on-premises Exchange server, for email setup, follow the directions in Exchange Online Planning in the Advanced Deployment Guide, rather than clicking the links below.

There are also instructions for DNS hosting providers in some other locales. To see if your locale has additional step-by-step instructions available, see Creating DNS records at additional domain registrars in other locales.

Tip    If you don’t know the DNS hosting provider or domain registrar for your domain, see Find your domain registrar or DNS hosting provider. For descriptions of what the DNS records do, see Understand DNS record types.
