You can use the illustrations and instructions in the following sections to determine which version of Microsoft Office is installed on your computer. Use the instructions to determine what Service Pack is installed and to whom the product is licensed. This article uses Microsoft Word in all its examples.

Office 2003
Word 2003 has the traditional text-based menus on the gray bar: File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Table, Window, and Help. Many customers have this version installed.
- On the Help menu, click About.
- On the About dialog, find the version (2003) and the Service Pack (SP). Product licensing appears in the This product is licensed to field.

Office 2007
Word 2007 introduced tabs and the Microsoft Office button and a tab menu.
- Click the Microsoft Office button, then click Word Options.
- In the Options dialog, click Resources. Find the version (2007) and the Service Pack (SP).

Office 2010
The latest version is Office 2010, which introduces the File tab and the Microsoft Office Backstage view. The following instructions use Microsoft Word.
- Click the File tab. In the Backstage view, click Help.
- Under Product Activated, find the version (2010).
