Downloading clips to your hard disk

When you find a clip or clips you want to use in documents or other projects, you can download them to your hard disk and keep them for use anytime. They are downloaded either to Microsoft Clip Organizer or to Microsoft Clip Gallery, depending on the Microsoft Office product versions you have installed on your computer:

  • Clip Organizer is included with Microsoft Office System 2007, 2003 and Microsoft Office XP products, including Microsoft Access 2002, Microsoft Excel 2002, Microsoft FrontPage® 2002, Microsoft PowerPoint® 2002, and Microsoft Word 2002.
  • Clip Gallery is included with Microsoft Works, Microsoft Office 2001 for Macintosh, and the following programs included in Microsoft Office 2000 or earlier: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, and FrontPage.

When you search for a clip, typically your search returns at least one screen's worth of images to choose from. To download a clip, you need to add it to your Selection Basket.

Note   The first time you download a clip, you need to accept the Terms of Use and install a required ActiveX control.

Troubleshoot downloading clips

If you try to download clips but receive an error message that says the system cannot find the file specified - Return code: 80070002, try this:

  1. Open Windows® Internet Explorer®, and on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files.
  3. In the Delete Files dialog box, click OK and wait for the temporary files to be deleted (this may take several minutes).
  4. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.

To add a clip to the Selection Basket

  1. Select the check box below each clip you want to download. The clip appears in the Selection Basket on the left side of the screen.
  2. Click the Download link in the Selection Basket section or in the top toolbar, then click Download Now on the Download page.
  3. Click Open when asked whether you want to continue with the download. The clip is downloaded either to Clip Organizer or Clip Gallery.
