If you are deploying ProClarity 6.3 on Microsoft Windows Server 2008, refer to the accompanying instructions, Installing ProClarity 6.3 SP2 on Microsoft Windows Server 2008.

Before you start:

As a best practice, always make a backup copy of the original components before installing a hotfix or service pack.

Installation instructions

To update ProClarity Analytics Server 6.3 with SP2:

1.       Extract the service pack components to your computer. (Always extract the components to your hard drive, typically the C drive.)

To install ProClarity Desktop Professional with SP2 on Windows Vista

When you install ProClarity Desktop Professional on Windows Vista, you may get an error message that says the prerequisites Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 v2 and Microsoft XML 6.0 were not found. If this occurs, use the following procedure:

1.       Do not run the installation process from the ProClarity Desktop Professional splash screen. Instead, browse to the directory that contains the setup.exe file (<cd drive>:\ProClarity\Desktop\Pro 6.3\Desktop Install\install).

2.       Double-click setup.exe to start the installation process.

 Uninstalling SP2

This service pack cannot be removed (uninstalled) independently of the product (ProClarity Professional 6.3 or ProClarity Analytics Server 6.3). To remove the hotfix, you must uninstall the entire application.

Known Issues

Description

Explanation/Workaround

Specific configuration and installation is required to use ProClarity 6.3 SP2 with Windows Server 2008.

ProClarity 6.3 SP2 supports Windows Server 2008 and can be deployed on the same server with Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 with SP2, provided the applications are configured correctly.

Workaround:   See Installing ProClarity 6.3 SP2 on Microsoft Windows Server 2008.

ProClarity 6.3 SP2 does not support the 10.0 OLE DB provider that is released with SQL Server 2008.

ProClarity 6.3 SP2 supports the SQL Server Analysis Server 8.0 and 9.0 OLE DB providers, but it does not support the 10.0 OLE DB provider that is released with SQL Server 2008.

Workaround:   Use the SQL Server 9.0 OLE DB provider to connect to data cubes that use the SQL Server 10.0 OLE DB provider.

Deploying ProClarity Analytics Server 6.3 SP2 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (64-bit) together on the same computer that us running Microsoft Server 2008 is currently an unsupported deployment scenario.

Conflicts arise when ProClarity Analytics Server 6.3 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (64-bit) are collocated and the SharePoint site that is created uses port 80.

Workaround: Deploy ProClarity Analytics Server 6.3 in a distributed environment.

You get error messages when you attempt to install ProClarity Desktop Professional on a computer that is running Windows Vista.

The error messages indicate you are missing required programs, even if those programs are already installed.

Workaround:   Do not use the installation wizard. Instead, use the setup.exe file to install ProClarity.
