Accept or ignore an instant message

With Microsoft Lync Online communications software, you can exchange information in real-time with another person by using instant messaging (IM). It’s easy to accept a message by clicking the alert that indicates someone is starting an IM conversation with you. If you don’t currently have time for an IM conversation, you can choose to ignore the conversation alert.

Accept a new instant message

To accept the instant message, do the following:

  • Click the alert.

Ignore a new instant message

To ignore an incoming instant message, do the following:

  • Click the Ignorebutton in the alert. The contact will not receive an indication that you have declined the message but will not get a response.
