Customize your Web site color scheme

A Web site color scheme is a palette of complementary colors used in the design of your Web site. Web site color schemes apply to the following parts of your Web site: the body, the navigation, the header, and the footer. You can choose from a number of professionally-designed color schemes, or you can create your own.

Note   You cannot apply a color scheme to an individual zone.

Important   If you partially redirected a domain name to your Office Live Small Business account: Before you can make changes to your Web site after partial redirection, you must change the primary domain to your free Office Live Small Business domain that ends in .officelive.com. For more information, see Make changes to your Web site after partial redirection.

Create a custom color scheme

Note   You can switch between this custom color scheme and any of the predesigned schemes; however, you can only have one custom color scheme. If you create another custom color scheme, it will overwrite the previous one.

  1. On the Office Live Small Business Home page, at the top, click Web Site.
  2. In Page Manager, on the actions bar, click Design Site. In the drop-down list, click Design site.
  3. In Site Designer, click Color, and then click Create custom color scheme.
  4. Under Theme colors, a list is shown of the four page areas where you can apply a color scheme: the Header, the Body, the Navigation, and the Footer. Click the page area where you want to apply a color scheme to expand its list of theme colors.
  5. To customize a color, click a color from the list to select it. To the right, under Select a color, click the color you want in the grid.
  6. You can also specify a color of your own choosing by clicking More colors. Under Select a color, set the slider at right to the hue you want. To the left, click and hold the color selector circle, and drag it to the shade and saturation you want. The hex number for the color you select appears in the Hex text box. You can also specify a precise color by entering its hex number into the Hex text box.

Note   Note the hex number of the color that you select if you want to use it elsewhere on your site.

  7. Click Apply.
  8. Repeat these steps for each color group that you want to apply a custom color to. When you are finished, click OK.

After you create your custom color scheme, it appears in the Color drop-down list in Site Designer.
