You can add an image to a Web site page from two sources: from your computer or from the Image Gallery in Microsoft Office Live Small Business, which contains images that you have already uploaded to your account.
There are two ways to upload images to the Images Gallery: with the default image uploader, or with the Multiple Image Uploader, which you can install if you use Windows Internet Explorer. The Multiple Image Uploader makes it easier to upload images to the Image Gallery.

Upload images to the Image Gallery using the Multiple Image Uploader
If you use Internet Explorer as your Web browser, you can use the Multiple Image Uploader, which makes it easier to add images to the Image Gallery. This requires the installation of a Microsoft ActiveX control.
Note ActiveX controls are small programs that are used on the Internet. If you use Internet Explorer on a computer running Microsoft Windows, you can install an ActiveX control that allows your computer to use the Multiple Image Uploader program. ActiveX controls that come from trusted Web sites, such as Office Live Small Business, are safe to run on your computer. But you should never run an ActiveX control from a Web site that you don't know and trust.
Download the Multiple Image Uploader
To download the Multiple Image Uploader, you must be connected to the Internet and logged on
to your local computer with administrator privileges.
- On the Office Live Small Business Home page, at the top, click Web Site.
-
In Page Manager, on the left navigation bar, click Image Gallery.
- In the Image Gallery, on the actions bar, click Upload.
- In the Image Uploader box, click Learn more at the bottom of the box. A new window opens and prompts you to download the Multiple Image Uploader.
- In the new window, click Get it now.
- In the File Download Security Warning box, click Run.
- In the Internet Explorer Security Warning box, click Run.
- Follow the directions in the Microsoft Office Live Small Business Image Uploader Setup Wizard.

- If a yellow information bar appears at the top of the screen, right-click it, and do one of the following:
- If you use Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, select Install ActiveX Control.
- If you use Windows Vista, select Run Add-on.
- In the Internet Explorer Security Warning box, click Install.
Upload images to the Image Gallery
- On the Office Live Small Business Home page, at the top, click Web Site.
- In Page Manager, on the left navigation bar, click Image Gallery.

Note To ensure that your Web site pages open quickly for visitors, your images are converted to JPEG files (if they are not already in this format) and resized to 640 pixels, maintaining the aspect ratio, when you upload them to the Image Gallery. For high-resolution images, such as those taken by digital cameras, converting and resizing your images may result in some graininess. To avoid grainy images, we recommend that you use photo editing software to convert your high-resolution images to JPEG files before you upload them to the Image Gallery.

Optimize images for search
The images you add to your site can help
your Web pages appear in search results if you follow a few guidelines related to image naming:
- Give your images names that use relevant keywords, such as product names or part/model numbers.
- Use underscores to place more than one word in an image name (for example, "Contoso_tenspeed_899" to reflect a certain brand, product, and model number).
- Use keywords that are related to the image in the text immediately surrounding the image.
