Web site navigation functions as your Web site's table of contents. The same navigation bar appears on every page on your Web site. Customers use the links in the navigation bar to reach the different pages of your site.
When you create a Web site, plan your navigational structure in a way that will be useful for your customers. The following terms are used in describing navigational link relationships:
- Top-level links are the primary links that appear in the navigation bar on all of your Web pages.
- Parent
pages are the pages linked to from your top-level links. They often serve as categories, in which case they will have associated child pages.
- Child pages are pages that are linked to from parent pages. Child pages typically contain information related to the parent page.
For example, the parent pages (and top-level links) on a
spa's site are
Services
and Products, and the child pages under Services
are Facials and
Hairstyling.

Change your default home page
When you create a Web site in Office Live Small Business, your home page is automatically designated as the default page that visitors go to when they type your Web address into a browser window. - On the Office Live Small Business Home page, at the top, click Web Site. Page Manager appears.
- In Page Manager, on the actions bar, click New page.
- In the Create Web page dialog box, select Home from the Standard Templates list, and then click Next.
- In the Page information area, in the Page title box, type the title for your home page.
- In the Web address box, type default, and select the Overwrite existing page check box.
- Click Finish.
Caution If you overwrite the existing page, the content on that existing page is deleted. If you want to save that content, you should copy the content into another new Web page before you overwrite the default home page.
