Closing a file that is currently uploading to a server

Note: This article has done its job, and will be retiring soon. To prevent "Page not found" woes, we're removing links we know about. If you've created links to this page, please remove them, and together we'll keep the web connected.

Changes you make to a server file are first saved locally and then uploaded to the server. If you try to close a file during the upload, an upload progress dialog box appears. After the upload is complete, the file will automatically close. Cancelling this progress dialog box will cancel the closing of the file and return you to the program, leaving the file as Upload Pending.

If this occurs, you can do one of the following:

  • Save the document and retry uploading your file to the server.

  • Close the file and upload your changes later from the Microsoft Office Upload Center.

  • Save the file to another location.

  • Discard your changes from the Resolve menu by following these steps:

  1. In your file, click the File tab and then click Info.

  2. Under Upload Pending, click Resolve, and then choose Discard.
