Change file properties

You can change document properties (property: A named attribute of a control, a field, or an object that you set to define one of the object's characteristics (such as size, color, or screen location) or an aspect of its behavior (such as whether the object is hidden).) from the currently open document or from the list in the Open dialog box:

  1. On the File menu, click Properties.
  2. Do any of the following:

  1. On the Standard toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Toolbars tab.), click Open Button image.
  2. In the Open dialog box, select the document for which you want to edit properties.
  3. On the Tools menu, click Properties.
  4. Do any of the following:
    • On the Summary tab, edit the values for standard properties, such as Title and Author.
    • On the Custom tab, edit custom properties you have defined.
